BigCommerce named Challenger for Digital Commerce Platforms
BigCommerce has been recognised as a Challenger in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce report.
BigCommerce offers an open SaaS ecommerce platform for fast-growing and established B2C and B2B brands.
The evaluation was based on specific criteria that analysed the company's overall Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute.

The report evaluated 18 digital commerce platform vendors based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision to help application leaders that support digital commerce make informed decisions.
According to Gartner, “Gartner defines a digital commerce platform as the core technology that enables customers to purchase goods and services through an interactive and usually self-service experience. The platform provides necessary information for customers to make buying decisions and uses rules and data to present fully priced orders for payment.
BigCommerce announced it has acquired Quote Ninja, a software company that facilitates the use of B2B eCommerce technology for vendors, in February this year.
B2B Ninja (the name under which Quote Ninja does business) has long been a BigCommerce partner. The acquisition enables BigCommerce to deliver eCommerce functionality to B2B vendors more effectively.
The acquisition came after BigCommerce developed its transaction management last October by integrating with Chargify, a billing and subscription management platform designed for SaaS companies worldwide. B2B Ninja is available to any BigCommerce vendor on any plan to enhance the customer experience and easily manage quotes online.
Earlier this year, BigCommerce was named a Strong Performer by Forrester Research in both the Forrester Wave: B2C Commerce Solutions, Q2 2022 and the Forrester Wave: B2B Commerce Solutions, Q2 2022 reports.
The company received the highest possible score in 11 criteria in the Forrester Wave B2C evaluation: Role-based Access Management, Customer Success and Support, Promotions Management, Practitioner UX, Architecture, Extensibility and Integration Tools, Product Vision, Performance, Innovation Roadmap, Partner Ecosystem and Commercial Model.
The Forrester Wave B2C report acknowledges BigCommerce's roadmap as one of the most robust in its evaluation and, citing customer feedback, and says BigCommerce's customers are enthusiastic about the company as a trusted partner.
The B2B report noted BigCommerce has a "strong performance against its product vision," and "strength in architecture, third-party channels, and extensibility and integration."
