ADLINK launches EMP-100, a compact fanless Mini PC

Yesterday

ADLINK Technology has unveiled a new palm-size, fanless Mini PC, the EMP-100, designed for both smart retail and industrial environments.

The EMP-100 is a compact industrial Next Unit of Computing (NUC) device that supports dual 4K display capabilities, making it ideal for space-constrained applications. It is equipped with Intel Celeron processors and features IoT connectivity, M.2 expansion slots, and dual HDMI outputs. These attributes make it suitable for digital signage, interactive kiosks, and AI/IoT applications.

The EMP-100's robust design allows it to function in harsh industrial settings, enabling tasks such as real-time machinery monitoring, acting as an IoT gateway, and performing basic surveillance, thereby supporting automated production and edge computing tasks.

ADLINK Technology has described the EMP-100 Series as "the smallest of its kind", specifically measuring 13 x 10.7 x 2.8cm. Despite its diminutive size, the Mini PC is versatile, featuring an Intel Celeron N6210/J6412 processor, IoT connectivity with a single GbE LAN and an optional Wi-Fi 6/BT 5.2 module. It also includes M.2 2280 key slots for optional storage and Wi-Fi/BT modules, alongside two HDMI output ports.

The EMP-100 Series is particularly positioned as a media player, supporting dual 4K UHD display for vibrant digital signage and interactive kiosks. This capability is intended to enhance customer experiences and improve commercial engagement in the smart retail sector. "The fanless design can operate continuously in a broad range of temperatures and significantly reduces maintenance," the company stated.

Use cases highlighted include digital signage for marketing campaigns, self-service terminals offering multilingual services, stable system operations at points of sale with I/O ports for peripherals, and increasing work efficiency in hospitality settings as a space-saving Mini PC.

On the industrial front, the EMP-100's compact design allows it to be integrated into existing infrastructures with ease. It is designed for edge computing data collection, real-time monitoring of machinery, IoT gateway functionality connecting factory floor sensors to the cloud, and basic surveillance tasks including video processing and motion detection.
