Ecommpay has expanded its partnership with payment orchestration company BridgerPay, giving merchants access to Ecommpay's payment services through BridgerPay's platform.

The arrangement covers merchants in the UK, EU and South East Asia, with access to Ecommpay's payment gateway and a range of alternative payment methods used in local markets.

The partnership has been in place for more than six years, supporting businesses that want to add payment options across several regions through a single connection. BridgerPay connects merchants with payment service providers and payment methods through one integration.

Under the arrangement, merchants using BridgerPay can connect to card acquiring and a selection of local methods offered by Ecommpay, including Touch 'n Go in Malaysia, QRPh in the Philippines and PromptPay in Thailand.

Other options available through the connection include Malaysian online banking, Shopee Malaysia, GrabPay and Boost Wallet. The set-up also supports payouts in eligible jurisdictions alongside payment acceptance.

Roy Blokker, Head of Strategic Sales at Ecommpay, said the companies share a similar approach to payments.

"Like Ecommpay, BridgerPay aims to help businesses gain a strategic advantage from their payments, rather than seeing payments as a costly burden," Blokker said.

"We also share a commitment to giving merchants the widest possible range of payment solutions regardless of geography, while reducing the cost of the overall payment process. That shared vision has made this partnership highly successful, supporting many businesses since we joined forces more than six years ago."

Regional reach

The announcement reflects continued demand from merchants for local payment methods alongside international card acceptance. In many South East Asian markets, QR-based systems, digital wallets and domestic bank transfer methods are widely used alongside cards, making local coverage an important factor for online merchants entering the region.

Ecommpay's gateway combines direct acquiring, alternative payment methods and mass payout functions within a single integration. Through BridgerPay, merchants can access these services without building separate connections to multiple providers.

BridgerPay said the relationship is intended to simplify how merchants add localised payment options across different markets. For cross-border merchants, payment orchestration platforms are often used to manage provider connections, route transactions and broaden method coverage without changing the customer checkout experience.

Matthew Boundy, PSP Partnership Manager at BridgerPay, said: "With a broad range of payment solutions, fraud prevention capabilities and APM coverage, our collaboration with Ecommpay enables merchants to access a wide range of payment methods globally through a single integration. Together, we support businesses in offering more localised payment options without the need to manage multiple providers."

Market focus

The companies highlighted the importance of local payment preferences in the markets covered by the partnership. PromptPay is widely used in Thailand, while QRPh is the QR code standard used in the Philippines for payments and fund transfers. Touch 'n Go is a well-established digital payment brand in Malaysia, especially in transport and everyday consumer spending.

For merchants, adding these methods can reduce friction at checkout by letting customers pay with familiar domestic tools. That can be particularly relevant for businesses selling digital services, travel, retail goods or subscriptions across borders, where failed payments or limited choice can affect conversion.

Ecommpay, founded in 2012 and headquartered in London, offers acquiring and payment processing services across international and local markets. Its platform includes more than 100 payment methods.

BridgerPay has positioned its service around payment orchestration, an area of the payments market that has attracted interest from merchants looking to reduce operational complexity as they expand into new territories. The model typically allows businesses to connect with several payment providers and local methods through one technical set-up, rather than integrating with each provider separately.

The latest expansion suggests both companies see continued demand for broader payment choice and regional coverage through fewer integrations.
