FedEx adds new flights to boost Asia-Europe air cargo links
FedEx has announced the addition of five new weekly flights connecting Asia Pacific to its European hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, aiming to enhance speed and reliability for shipments between the two regions.
The new services will operate from two major Asian hubs. Three flights will depart from the FedEx APAC Hub at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, while two will operate from the FedEx Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub. All flights will use Boeing B777 freighters and connect directly to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, expanding FedEx's daily cargo capacity between Asia Pacific and Europe.
Trade lane growth
The expansion comes amid sustained growth along the Europe-Asia trade lane. According to figures from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), this corridor recorded 30 consecutive months of air freight volume growth, with a 13% year-on-year increase reported in August 2025. The European Union remains the largest import market for more than 100 countries, and Asia Pacific economies are among its most dynamic suppliers.
The added flight frequencies increase FedEx's services on this route to 26 per week, allowing businesses to deliver express shipments to major European destinations in as little as 48 hours. The company said this move would help firms in sectors such as eCommerce, manufacturing, hi-tech, and retail to access new opportunities in Europe, particularly during the busy year-end shopping period.
Business response
"The Asia-Europe corridor is one of the highest growing trade lanes," said Salil Chari, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience, Asia Pacific, FedEx. "In our survey of nearly 4,000 customers in Asia this year, over 20% said they plan to shift their trading focus to Europe over the next 12 months. We are adapting quickly and flexing our network to create a blueprint for the next wave of opportunity for Asia's expanding trade ecosystem. Through enhanced connectivity between APAC and Europe, we are helping businesses respond to market changes, reach new customers, tap growth and strengthen their position in global trade."
Chari highlighted the company's efforts to increase agility and support business growth amid changing market dynamics, noting that improved connections between Asia and Europe would help firms meet rising demand and shorten delivery times to customers across both regions.
Supply chain connectivity
FedEx recently increased connectivity from Northern Vietnam to Europe, supplementing its approach to link key Asian markets with Europe. The company also leverages its European hubs in Paris, Cologne, and Liège, as well as a new global air transit facility in Istanbul, to offer greater resilience and flexibility across its network.
The increase in Asia-Europe air freight capacity is intended to help businesses manage peak shipping periods, meet seasonal demand, and strengthen supply chains. As companies continue to look toward Europe for new trade and growth opportunities, FedEx's expanded network enables faster, more reliable service for importers and exporters throughout the Asia Pacific region.
IATA data suggests further momentum for trade between the two regions, with the Asia-Europe corridor maintaining its position as a key driver of global air cargo volumes. As a result, enhanced connectivity is expected to help Asia Pacific businesses respond to market changes and explore new business avenues across the European continent.
