Paydibs, AltPayNet link Malaysia, Philippines payments
Paydibs and AltPayNet have formed a partnership focused on payment interoperability between Malaysia and the Philippines, with an initial service centred on Social Security System contributions for Filipinos living in Malaysia.
Paydibs operates a payment gateway in Malaysia and said it will provide local payment infrastructure for the tie-up. AltPayNet is a Philippines-based payment service provider with operations in multiple markets.
The companies said the arrangement connects AltPayNet's network with Paydibs' Malaysia payment rails. They positioned the work as part of a broader push for interoperable retail payments across ASEAN.
"This partnership reflects Paydibs' commitment to advancing financial connectivity through inclusive and interoperable payment solutions. By supporting services such as Social Security System ("SSS") contributions on our platform, we are helping overseas communities remain financially connected and secure using trusted and compliant local payment infrastructure," said Tee Kean Kang, Chief Executive Officer, Paydibs.
Initial service
The first stage of the rollout targets Filipinos residing in Malaysia who need to make contributions to the Philippines' Social Security System. The system covers social security contributions for eligible members and sits alongside other government-linked schemes in the Philippines.
The companies said the service offers a way for overseas contributors to keep their SSS payments current from Malaysia. They also framed the service around access to services in the Philippines for overseas members.
AltPayNet said the partnership fits its approach to offering payment services for Filipinos abroad. "Our goal is to ensure financial access empowers Filipino families and communities, wherever they are. By partnering with Paydibs, we can offer secure, interoperable and compliant payment services that help overseas Filipinos meet essential obligations, such as SSS contributions, while also opening new opportunities for merchants across borders," said Don Vacal, Chief Executive Officer, AltPayNet.
Merchant processing
Beyond SSS payments, Paydibs said it has been appointed as the official payment processor for AltPayNet's merchants in Malaysia. The companies said transactions will route through locally approved payment rails.
The partnership adds a processing arrangement that puts Paydibs in the transaction flow for AltPayNet merchants operating in Malaysia. The companies linked that structure to compliance requirements in-market and to operational considerations for payment routing.
AltPayNet framed the move as part of its expansion in Malaysia. "This collaboration strengthens our presence in Malaysia and builds on our operations. Together with Paydibs, we are expanding inclusion and supporting sustainable economic growth for merchants and communities alike," said Vacal.
Regulatory backdrop
Paydibs describes itself as a registered payment service provider under Malaysia's Financial Services Act 2013. The company said it provides digital payment acceptance for businesses through cards, online banking, eWallets, QR payments, and other local methods.
AltPayNet said it is authorised to process payments for Philippine government agencies including the Social Security System and the Pag-IBIG Fund. It also said it holds registrations in several jurisdictions, including as an Operator of Payment Systems with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and with the Labuan Financial Services Authority in Malaysia.
The partnership focuses on interoperability between the two markets at a time when cross-border payments remain a priority topic across Southeast Asia. Regional policy work has often highlighted domestic instant payment links and QR payment interoperability as pathways for lower-friction payments across borders, particularly for consumers and small businesses.
Next steps
The companies said the scope of services will expand beyond SSS contributions over time. They pointed to a wider range of merchant payments as a future area of work, covering both business and consumer use cases.
