Qualtrics has appointed Mike Potter as Chief Technology Officer as it expands its XM Data & AI platform.

Potter will lead platform architecture and engineering, overseeing core infrastructure and the technical integration of a unified architecture. He will also focus on improving technical velocity and system reliability as Qualtrics advances its experience management technology.

The appointment is part of a broader leadership reshaping as Qualtrics positions itself for what it sees as the next phase of the experience management market. The market is shifting beyond collecting feedback and scoring responses toward systems that simulate, predict, and act in real time.

Qualtrics expects synthetic data generation for analytics to grow to nearly USD $10 billion by 2030. It has been building its XM Data & AI platform around data collected over more than two decades, alongside healthcare experience data from Press Ganey covering more than 41,000 facilities.

Potter brings more than 25 years of technical leadership experience. He has held roles at Cognos, IBM, and Qlik, and most recently led Product, Engineering, IT, Data, and Security at Petal, where he worked on healthcare technology products.

During his decade at Qlik, he worked through a period of rapid growth and platform change. At Petal, his responsibilities spanned several functions central to software development and operations, including security and data.

Platform focus

Potter joins Qualtrics with a mandate focused on the systems needed to support larger-scale AI work. That includes integrating architecture across products and ensuring the platform can handle experience data at scale.

Commenting on his appointment, Potter said:

"I have spent the better part of my career building platforms at scale, the kind of work that requires deep technical conviction, strong collaboration, and a relentless focus on what customers actually need. That is what drew me to Qualtrics. The opportunity to help define what our XM Data & AI platform means in practice, and to build the infrastructure that delivers on that promise, is one I could not pass up.

"What excites me most about this moment is the scale of the architecture challenge ahead: turning a platform built for surveys and feedback into AI-native infrastructure that can process, reason over, and act on experience data at enterprise scale. That is a systems problem as much as an AI problem, and it is exactly the kind of problem I have spent my career solving.

"That is the mindset I bring to Qualtrics as we build the future of the XM Data & AI platform: deep technical expertise paired with a relentless focus on scale and reliability, in service of helping customers unlock the full potential of their experience data."

Qualtrics is seeking to expand its role in a market it helped define, moving from survey and feedback tools toward a broader data and AI platform. Its systems draw on long-running datasets covering customer, patient, and employee behaviour and sentiment, including healthcare data added through Press Ganey.

For Qualtrics, the technology challenge now centres on how that information is structured and used across a single platform. Potter's appointment places engineering execution and infrastructure at the centre of that effort as the company develops systems that can analyse and respond to experience data in real time.
