Canva unveils 100 upgrades in push into office work
Thu, 10th Sep 2026 (Today)
Canva has introduced more than 100 upgrades across its Visual Suite since the start of 2026, a milestone it says reflects growing use of its workplace tools.
The updates span Docs, Sheets, Whiteboards, Presentations, Video and Websites as Canva pushes further into software for day-to-day office work. More than one billion designs are now created on the platform each month, it said, including nearly 1,000 documents, 3,000 presentations and 5,000 social media posts every minute.
The figures suggest a broader shift in Canva's positioning. Known first for design and marketing materials, the group is now focusing on documents, planning, data handling and collaboration, areas long dominated by office software providers.
Canva said 100 million people use Canva Presentations every month, placing the product among the three most-used tools for creating presentations. It also said use of Canva Docs has more than tripled over the past three years.
Productivity push
Canva is trying to persuade teams to keep more work within a single platform rather than split projects across separate documents, spreadsheets, whiteboards and slide decks. Its argument is that a project can start as an idea on a whiteboard, move into a brief, draw on spreadsheet data and then become a presentation without users leaving the same workspace.
That approach comes as many businesses review software costs and overlapping tools. Since the multi-format design format was introduced last year, more than a quarter of a billion such designs have been created, Canva said, suggesting users are combining different types of work in the same file.
It also said more than 98% of the Fortune 500 now use Canva for work, while adoption among large organisations has more than doubled year on year. Canva did not provide a detailed breakdown of those customers or how intensively they use its products.
"When we launched the Visual Suite, we were planting the seeds for a very different way of working, and a few years later those seeds have grown into a mighty forest. We're incredibly proud to see Canva becoming one of the most widely used productivity suites in the world, as people bring more of their everyday work into Canva. Today marks our 100th new feature launch this year alone, a pace of nearly one Visual Suite upgrade every other day. As we often say, we still feel like we're only 1% of the way there, and we're just getting started," said Cameron Adams, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Canva.

Tool changes
Among the changes, Canva Docs has gained fuller page layouts, automatic page breaks and expanded formatting styles aimed at turning working documents into more polished reports and proposals. Canva said the product has become its third most popular design type.
Sheets has received more than a dozen updates, including new formatting options and controls for public filters, hidden columns and grouped rows. Canva also added artificial intelligence tools that can analyse data and turn it into charts and tables for use in presentations and documents.
Whiteboards now include navigation changes such as streamlined panning and mobile pasting, along with a Follow Collaborators feature and one-click reactions for team feedback. They can also be converted into a presentation or document with one click, Canva said.
Presentations has added an estimated presentation timer, one-click presenting and automatically generated presenter notes. Those features are aimed at delivery as well as slide preparation.
Websites, another area of expansion, now support up to 20 sections through new navigation tools. Canva said nearly one million websites are published on its platform each month, while more than six million coded websites have been created through Canva Code.
Mobile growth
Canva said the spread of its office-focused tools is increasingly tied to mobile use, especially in faster-growing markets. More than half of Canva Presentations created in Southeast Asia start on a mobile device, rising to nearly two in three in Indonesia and three in five in the Philippines.
Across the wider Visual Suite, more than half of users now work on mobile, according to Canva, with Canva Websites showing the fastest mobile adoption. That trend may help explain why the company continues to frame its products around flexible, collaborative work rather than traditional desktop-first office software.
One customer example cited by Canva came from Docusign, which said Canva had become central to its internal design system and broader marketing work.
"Canva has become the globally distributed source of truth for our self-serve design system. By meeting users where they already work, we've empowered hundreds of marketers to create everything from ePublications and social ads to event promotions. Our small design team can now focus on building and evolving the system, not designing every pixel. Canva is foundational to how we scale design across Docusign worldwide," said Pomkoski.
