DeeMoney picks SEON for real-time remittance checks

DeeMoney has selected SEON as its fraud and compliance partner, with the agreement covering real-time fraud and anti-money laundering screening across its remittance operations.
Thailand-based DeeMoney chose SEON to support outbound and inbound cross-border payment flows. It handles transfers from Thailand to more than 85 countries and processes inbound remittances through more than 70 global partners. Since launching in 2017, it has processed more than THB 260 billion across more than 15 million transactions.
The partnership brings transaction monitoring, fraud scoring and AML screening into a single system with one rules engine, the companies said. SEON also migrated DeeMoney's existing fraud rules from its previous provider without interrupting live operations.
Licenced by the Bank of Thailand, DeeMoney serves migrant workers, underbanked communities, entrepreneurs and businesses. With cross-border remittances moving at pace, any delay in screening can directly affect payout times.
That need for rapid decision-making was a key factor in the selection, as DeeMoney required near-instant checks and stable system availability across high transaction volumes.
Operational shift
The partnership reflects a broader push by payment groups to combine fraud controls and compliance checks as regulators and customers demand faster processing and tighter oversight. For cross-border remittance firms, balancing speed with monitoring is especially important because payments often move in real time and serve customers who rely on prompt access to funds.
SEON said it built the implementation around DeeMoney's transaction patterns and data. The arrangement also gives DeeMoney a base to expand fraud and compliance coverage as it adds markets and products.
Fraud prevention and AML checks are often handled through separate tools, creating operational complexity for financial services groups with high transaction volumes. By consolidating those functions into one platform, companies aim to reduce duplicated workflows and keep rules management in one place.
Troy Nyi Nyi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, APAC, SEON, described the demands of the remittance market in a statement on the deal.
"Cross-border payments platforms like DeeMoney operate on speed and trust. Every transaction has to be screened in real time without slowing down the payout. That's a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have," said Troy Nyi Nyi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, APAC, SEON.
He added that the system was configured to match DeeMoney's existing flows.
"We built this implementation around DeeMoney's actual transaction patterns and data, so the fraud logic fits their business from day one," said Troy Nyi Nyi.
Growth plans
The agreement comes as payment and remittance firms face growing pressure to detect suspicious behaviour across larger transaction volumes while keeping services accessible to consumers and small businesses. In Southeast Asia, cross-border transfers remain a core financial service for overseas workers and families, making reliability and compliance central for operators in the sector.
DeeMoney said the partnership supports its effort to make cross-border payments easier and safer for customers and partners, linking the move to expansion into new markets and the launch of new products.
"We created DeeMoney to make cross-border payments simpler and safer for our customers and partners," said Aswin Phlaphongphanich, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of DeeMoney.
"Partnering with SEON strengthens that promise, giving us real-time fraud protection as we grow into new markets and launch new products," said Aswin Phlaphongphanich.
SEON operates from Austin, London, Budapest and Singapore, while DeeMoney remains focused on cross-border payments tied to Thailand's outbound and inbound remittance market.
