Indosat unveils Vision AI for smart, secure surveillance in Indonesia
Indosat has launched Vision AI, a surveillance solution utilising artificial intelligence for enhanced security, operational efficiency and data-driven decision making in various industries across Indonesia.
Solution details
Vision AI, offered through Indosat Business, uses AI and deep learning technologies to provide surveillance systems with real-time event analysis, pattern detection, and immediate alerts regarding potential risks or opportunities. The company states that this enables businesses to respond more swiftly and objectively, while also prioritising user privacy and data security.
"AI isn't the future anymore. It's the present, and Vision AI proves that technology can be used to create surveillance systems that are more responsive, efficient, and still prioritize privacy protection," said M. Danny Buldansyah, Director & Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.
Unlike traditional passive surveillance setups, Vision AI can analyse the context of events as they occur. This is achieved through a combination of AI-ready hardware – including an AI Box, cameras, and 3D stereo sensors – as well as a customisable training platform, allowing the technology to be tuned for specific industry needs.
Adaptability and integration
The system is built using a modular approach. This flexibility assists firms of different sizes and sectors – from small and medium-sized enterprises to major corporations – in integrating Vision AI into their existing or new CCTV infrastructures. The training platform can be tailored to fulfil the unique requirements of sectors such as retail, public services, and high-risk operational environments.
The deployment of Vision AI can encompass a variety of use cases, from automated monitoring in sensitive locations, public space security, to retail customer behaviour analysis and traffic management. All information is processed locally, using secure AI infrastructure managed within Indonesia's borders.
Data sovereignty and compliance
Vision AI operates on what Indosat describes as sovereign cloud technology and local data centres. This assures compliance with national data privacy regulations and supports the government's efforts towards developing a self-sustaining, globally competitive AI ecosystem. The infrastructure also facilitates ongoing collaboration with technology partners for continuous improvement of the solution.
Buldansyah added that the company's aim is to set a new industry standard, stating, "The presence of Vision AI marks a shift from traditional passive surveillance systems to a more dynamic, intelligent, and context-aware approach."
Industry context
The introduction of Vision AI aligns with an increasing demand for surveillance technologies that provide businesses actionable insights while ensuring strong measures for privacy and data protection. By allowing real-time risk detection and analysis, Indosat seeks to deliver value across industries such as public safety, retail, and critical infrastructure management without compromising privacy.
The solution is said to integrate easily with third-party systems and can be adapted for a broad range of real-world applications, enhancing not only traditional security monitoring but also enabling new business and operational insights.
"AI isn't the future anymore. It's the present, and Vision AI proves that technology can be used to create surveillance systems that are more responsive, efficient, and still prioritize privacy protection."
Indosat believes these features will support the ongoing digital transformation of Indonesian businesses and government efforts to foster local AI talent and infrastructure.
