LG unveils energy-saving smart fridges tailored for Europe
LG Electronics has unveiled a new range of refrigerators for the European market, focusing on energy efficiency, smart features, and space-saving designs.
The lineup introduces both french door and bottom-freezer models, with features tailored specifically for European consumers and housing environments. Extensive local research has informed the product development, reflecting the practical requirements and preferences of contemporary European households.
Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is a central theme, with the new bottom-freezer model exceeding the European Union's highest "A" energy rating by 40 percent, while the french door model achieves the highest "A" rating. These enhancements are attributed to insulation improvements and AI-based technology that optimises compressor operation by learning usage patterns, particularly reducing power consumption during low activity periods.
According to LG, "this achievement was made possible by its optimised insulation design tailored for the European market, resulting in cooling retention, as well as AI-based features that help reduce electricity consumption by learning household usage patterns and optimising compressor operation during periods of low activity."
Fit & Max design
The new refrigerators have been designed to address the challenge of limited kitchen space, a common concern in European homes. The Zero Clearance Hinge enables doors to open fully - even when positioned flush against the wall - allowing for greater installation flexibility. The Premium Flat Door design supports a built-in look, integrating seamlessly with existing kitchen cabinetry.
The Fit & Max lineup also includes organisational features such as a two-tiered drawer system, a Retractable Shelf for accommodating larger items, and expanded interior capacity. AI-powered features include AI Fresh, which monitors door openings and pre-emptively lowers the internal temperature before predicted peak usage to help prolong food freshness, and AI Saving Mode, which adapts cooling performance in response to user habits.
Freshness and practicality
Additional technologies incorporated into the product range are aimed at keeping food fresh. The refrigerators feature Linear CoolingTM to maintain consistent temperatures, Door Cooling+TM for faster and more even cooling, and Fresh Converter+TM for customisable storage of specific food categories such as meat, fish, or vegetables.
The new french door refrigerator presents LG's first Thin Door design with both an ice and water dispenser, alongside an Ultra Slim In-Door Ice Maker to save internal space. The Zero Clearance Hinge also extends to this model, adding to its adaptability. The interior has been refined for practical use, with deeper shelves and an optimised basket design to reduce the tipping of bottles, as well as Soft Closing Doors for quieter use.
Bottom-freezer flexibility
The bottom-freezer series emphasises versatility, providing multiple sizes and capacities. Adjustable shelving includes seven height settings, and a combination of adjustable and retractable shelves allows users to tailor internal organisation. Accessories like the Movable Bucket and My Box can be repositioned as needed to maximise usability.
"LG's new refrigerator lineup reflects a firm commitment to meaningful innovation, combining outstanding space and energy efficiency with designs that fit seamlessly into modern kitchens," said Lyu Jae-cheol, President of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company. "We remain focused on developing user-centric technologies that enhance everyday convenience, simplify life at home, and have less impact on the planet."
