PayPal partners with Liverpool FC to launch fan reward scheme

Thu, 20th Nov 2025

PayPal has entered into a global multi-year agreement with Liverpool FC to become the club's official digital payments partner. The deal marks PayPal's first partnership with a Premier League football club and will see the company play a central role in both online and physical fan engagement.

Digital reward scheme

The partnership introduces PayPal+, a new loyalty programme for Liverpool fans. Supporters will be able to earn reward points each time they use PayPal for matchday purchases. The free scheme allows members to progress through three tiers: Blue, Gold, and Black. Higher tiers provide additional benefits, including reward points that can be worth up to 50 percent more at the checkout stage, as well as access to exclusive club-related perks.

Access to the PayPal+ programme requires fans to enrol via the PayPal app. The scheme is designed to add value to transactions made through Liverpool's digital platforms and at matches. This includes purchases such as merchandise, food, and drinks.

Platform integration

PayPal becomes the preferred digital payment method for Liverpool FC, receiving prominent positioning across the club's online shop, membership, and ticketing platforms. The integration aims to streamline the payment process for supporters and improve security. PayPal branding will also be visible at the club's home stadium, Anfield, and at St Helens during games.

Ben Latty, Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool FC, said:

"PayPal is the original brand known for trust in digital payments, and we're delighted to welcome them to the LFC family. Their expertise in powering payments around the world makes them the ideal partner to help us elevate the experience for supporters worldwide."

"This partnership is an exciting step forward in our commitment to innovation, ensuring fans can engage with the club in a seamless and secure way. PayPal's dedication to supporting women's football and grassroots development also aligns perfectly with our values and future focus, making this collaboration even more meaningful," said Latty.

Women's and grassroots support

As part of the agreement, PayPal and Liverpool FC will jointly support initiatives aimed at increasing the profile of Liverpool FC Women. The partnership will also assist the LFC Foundation in working on grassroots football projects. The clubs' stated goal is to help nurture emerging talent and expand participation in the sport at local levels.

Global presence

PayPal currently operates in approximately 200 markets and supports transactions in 25 currencies, with a base of over 400 million active accounts. Its involvement with Liverpool FC expands its portfolio of sports-related sponsorships and aligns with efforts to reach a wider community of football fans internationally.

Geoff Seeley, Chief Marketing Officer at PayPal, said: "Our global collaboration with LFC reinforces our relationship with sports fans everywhere, building on our world class professional and collegiate sports partnerships around the world.

"We're offering customers a seamless and flexible experience that rewards them for doing something they love, whether buying the new kit or grabbing a pint at the match and settling up with friends later-PayPal is the smarter way to pay for LFC and sports fans globally."
