Reap has launched Reap Sentry, a managed fraud and risk service for card programmes, aimed at new and existing clients using its card issuing platform.

The product is designed to take over transaction risk management for card issuers, from initial fraud rule configuration to real-time screening, alert investigation, chargeback processing and reporting confirmed fraud to Visa. Clients do not need to add separate fraud monitoring tools or build an in-house specialist team to use the service.

The launch comes as payment card fraud remains a significant cost for the industry. Reap cited Nilson Report figures showing global card fraud losses of USD $33.41 billion in 2024, against worldwide card volume of USD $51.920 trillion.

The service is built on technology already used in Reap's own issuing business and reflects fraud patterns observed across millions of cards issued over eight years. Its controls are adjusted to each client's business profile, including cardholder segments, geographic footprint and risk appetite.

How it works

Sentry screens transactions at the point of authorisation and is intended to block suspected fraud before approval. It also triages alerts, investigates suspicious activity and updates controls as new threats emerge, including BIN attacks and merchant breaches.

In addition, the service handles chargeback processing and representation for client submissions, and provides reporting on programme performance at agreed intervals. Controls are reviewed and refined as a card programme changes, without requiring direct client intervention.

Clients connect to the service through a single Reap API. Reap manages the authorisation layer on its own infrastructure, while clients remain responsible for the cardholder relationship and for first-party fraud risks such as onboarding, identity verification and account access.

Operational focus

The offering addresses a practical problem for companies starting card programmes, where fraud management can become a major operational task before a product reaches market. In card issuing, authorisation decisions are made in milliseconds, and fraud prevention often has to happen at that stage rather than after a transaction is completed.

That pressure has increased as fraud tactics shift quickly and require regular updates to controls and processes. For newer issuers in particular, maintaining tools, staffing specialist teams and keeping up with attack patterns can add cost and delay launch plans.

Harris Leow, Head of Product at Reap, said the service was intended to remove that burden from clients.

"Most companies launching a card programme have to build a fraud function from day one. Doing so requires specialist tooling, dedicated expertise and several months of preparation before they can safely issue a single card, by which point the threat landscape may already have shifted. That is rarely how a team wants its first months to go," said Harris Leow, Head of Product at Reap.

"Sentry takes on that entire card fraud function: our controls, data and specialists, tailored to each card programme," Leow said.

Company background

Reap describes itself as a financial technology company focused on financial connectivity for businesses through infrastructure that uses stablecoins. It said it processed billions in stablecoin-funded transaction flows in 2025 and offers products including corporate cards, cross-border payments, integrated business accounts and embedded finance services.

The business was founded in Hong Kong and employs 300 people worldwide. Sentry is available to new card issuing clients and to existing customers when contracts come up for renewal.
