For application developers, security is often an afterthought or even considered a hindrance, with their focus typically falling on creating features and benefits within a software product. DevSecOps seeks to introduce security into the application development lifecycle at an earlier stage in the development lifecycle while fostering closer co-operation between security teams and DevOps ([software] Development and [IT] Operations) teams. The intended outcome of DevSecOps is higher quality applications with security included as a design principle.
