Agoda marks 20 years with global sales & up to 70% off deals

Today

Agoda is marking its 20th anniversary by launching a two-week global sales campaign with discounts of up to 70%.

The digital travel platform, established in Singapore in 2005, has announced that it will offer discounts of up to 60% on bookings made through Agoda.com and the Agoda mobile app from May 7 to 20, with discounts rising to up to 70% on May 21.

Initially launched as a Southeast Asian hotel booking website, Agoda has grown into a global travel platform, now featuring over 5 million hotels and holiday properties worldwide. In addition, it includes over 130,000 flight routes and more than 360,000 activities and experiences.

The company processes significant user activity daily, recording over 2 billion user interactions, from clicks and scrolls to filter selections aimed at helping travellers find suitable accommodation. According to Agoda, the platform handles one trillion price checks per day to secure the best available deals across hotels, flights, and activities.

The operational focus on user experience is further demonstrated by more than one thousand digital experiments run daily, aimed at refining the booking process. Data use is substantial, with 12 petabytes of information processed each month. The Agoda mobile app has exceeded 87 million downloads, which, according to market intelligence provider Data.AI, makes it the most downloaded online travel agency app in the Asia Pacific region outside China.

Reflecting on the milestone, Agoda Chief Executive Officer Omri Morgenshtern stated, "As we celebrate Agoda's 20th Birthday, we can proudly say that Agoda has truly become one of Asia Pacific's preferred travel marketplaces. Agoda's success comes from building a true tech company at scale. A piece of Silicon Valley in APAC. It's a story of relentless focus on pricing and a deep understanding of Asian cultures."

Morgenshtern highlighted the company's ongoing commitment to introducing new technology and personalising services for users. He said, "There is growing demand among customers for more personalised experiences when booking travel. Understanding which properties and flights are perfect for which travelers is what we do well at Agoda, and innovative technologies like gen AI allow us to evolve our travel booking experience even further. We're in great shape to continue bridging the world through travel for the next 20 years."

Agoda has also expanded its efforts beyond commercial activities through several social and environmental initiatives. Through its Eco Deals campaign, the company has raised over USD $1.3 million for the World Wide Fund for Nature. Other projects include conducting technology workshops for students in Thailand to promote workplace skills and encouraging staff volunteers, who have contributed over 17,000 hours to charities globally. These activities primarily focus on giving back within the Asia-Pacific region, while also fostering wider global connections.

The 20th birthday sales event is accessible through both the Agoda website and mobile app, with the most significant discounts, up to 70% off, available on 21 May.
