Amilo has completed the acquisition and integration of cross-border logistics specialist SG Link, which now operates as ShipX.

The deal is Amilo's fourth acquisition in four years and expands its cross-border shipping network to more than 220 destinations.

Amilo is a third-party logistics provider in Southeast Asia, covering warehousing, fulfilment and delivery through its own platform. With ShipX, it adds a cross-border service for merchants that want to sell internationally but lack the scale to secure freight terms or manage customs processes on their own.

SG Link had operated in Vietnam since 2020, focusing on cross-border shipping for smaller exporters. It pooled shipment volumes for merchants, allowing smaller consignments to move on terms closer to those available to larger exporters, while also managing documentation, duties and shipment tracking through a single process.

Integration model

The acquisition also reflects Amilo's approach to dealmaking in the region. Rather than keeping the systems used by acquired companies, it moves those businesses onto a single in-house technology stack covering marketplaces, order management, warehousing, transport, customs and delivery management.

That means each acquired company becomes part of a single operating system instead of remaining a separate business within a broader group structure. Amilo says this has reduced the cost and time required for each successive integration because the target operating model stays the same.

Chris Revord, Head of Finance at Amilo, said the latest transaction further validated that strategy.

"We have now proven our acquisition, integration and turnaround story four times in four years. With heavy AI usage across all functions, the platform keeps getting more robust - and we are extending it across the commerce and distribution space," said Chris Revord, Head of Finance, Amilo.

Export barriers

The deal comes as many small and medium-sized businesses in Southeast Asia continue to face practical barriers when selling abroad. These include destination-specific customs requirements, difficulty quoting landed duties in advance, limited shipment visibility after export, and freight pricing structures that favour higher-volume shippers.

ShipX was built to serve that segment of the market, particularly merchants whose shipment volumes are too low to negotiate directly with freight providers. Within Amilo's network, it gives those businesses a more direct route from domestic warehousing to international buyers.

Arun Mambully, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Amilo, said the business had already contributed to growth.

"SG Link, now ShipX, is an amazing team. Their knowledge of complex cross-border processes is a core pillar of our strategy of helping millions of ASEAN SMEs expand globally. Despite fuel-price and tariff-war pressure, our teams have come together very well and delivered positive growth in the first half of this year," said Arun Mambully, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Amilo.

Next phase

Amilo's strategy now rests on a base of warehousing, fleets, licences and border processes built or acquired across the region. From there, it sees two immediate priorities: integrating further acquisitions and applying more automation and data analysis across customer operations and internal processes.

It argues that more of the migration work involved in future integrations can be automated, shortening the time needed to move acquired businesses onto its platform. It also expects to embed more intelligence into merchant operations once the underlying logistics network is functioning consistently.

Amilo integrates with online marketplaces including Amazon, eBay and Shopify, and ShipX expands the international delivery layer connected to that network. The acquisition adds not just another business, but also a service that addresses one of the more difficult gaps for Southeast Asian exporters: managing the cross-border leg after goods leave the home market.

Through ShipX, Amilo now reaches more than 220 cross-border destinations.
