B2C Distribution picks Ecommpay for mobile checkout

Tue, 31st Mar 2026

B2C Distribution has chosen Ecommpay to handle payments across its online retail brands. The deal covers checkout services for a global seller of wetsuits, water sports equipment, equestrian products and lifestyle clothing.

The new arrangement replaces a previous payment setup involving multiple parties in the chain. That structure limited visibility and flexibility as the business sought to support further growth across its eCommerce operations.

Ecommpay worked with B2C Distribution's in-house developers and bespoke eCommerce systems to build the new checkout setup, giving the retailer more direct control over reporting, operations and issue resolution.

Mobile shopping was central to the project. A large share of B2C Distribution's customers buy through mobile devices, making express checkout options an important requirement across its sites.

"B2C Distribution depends on smooth, reliable payment journeys across multiple eCommerce brands, and checkout performance will be critical for its future expansion plans. The company's previous setup involved multiple parties in the payment chain, which undermined its growth plans. We have delivered greater visibility and more flexibility through a true partnership, working seamlessly with in-house developers and the highly tailored systems in its bespoke eCommerce environment," said Roy Blokker, Head of Strategic Sales at Ecommpay.

Mobile focus

The agreement highlights how online retailers are reviewing payment infrastructure as checkout performance becomes more closely linked to conversion rates, particularly on mobile. Merchants are also seeking fewer intermediaries in payment flows to simplify operations and improve accountability when problems arise.

Speed and convenience at checkout were priorities when B2C Distribution selected a provider. The company sells across several specialist consumer categories, where abandoned baskets can rise if payment steps are slow or cumbersome, especially on smaller screens.

"The Ecommpay team gave us the ability to work closer to the source when improvements or fixes were needed. Everything felt more flexible - if we needed something done differently, whether in reporting or operations, there was a willingness to work with us," said Lyndon Davis, Finance Director at B2C Distribution.

"Many of our customers shop on mobile devices, where purchases are driven by speed and convenience, so express checkout options were an absolute must for us. Ecommpay worked closely with us to develop a solution that now performs well across all our sites," said Davis.

"The collaboration is a genuine working partnership, with open dialogue, clear expectations and a shared focus on improving the customer experience. We now have a payments setup that is stable, flexible and built to evolve. Just as importantly, we have a partner relationship based on honesty, responsiveness and shared goals," added Davis.

Custom systems

Ecommpay, founded in London in 2012, provides payment processing, acquiring and orchestration services through a single API. According to its corporate information, it also offers access to more than 100 payment methods.

For B2C Distribution, the move points to a broader shift among digital retailers towards tighter integration between payment providers and internal technology teams. Rather than relying on standard third-party arrangements, merchants are increasingly asking providers to adapt to custom-built commerce systems and specific operational requirements.

The project was built around clearer accountability and a closer working relationship between the two companies.
