TBC Uzbekistan launches digital SME payroll feature

TBC Uzbekistan launches digital SME payroll feature

Wed, 10th Jun 2026

TBC Uzbekistan has launched a digital payroll feature for small and medium-sized enterprises on its TBC Business platform, adding another service to its business offering in Uzbekistan.

The feature allows registered business users to make salary payments digitally at any time, including weekends and holidays, with wages sent instantly to employees' TBC Salom debit cards.

Launched as a fully digital banking service for companies, TBC Business has attracted more than 30,000 registered businesses since its debut in December 2024. The payroll feature expands a product line that recently added SME lending, a dedicated business app and the acquisition of retail management software provider BILLZ.

The launch reflects a broader push by the group to deepen services for business customers as it expands in Uzbekistan's digital financial market. TBC Uzbekistan combines consumer and business services in one ecosystem, with retail operations centred on TBC UZ and Payme, and its business banking arm built around TBC Business and BILLZ.

Payroll processing is a routine but important task for smaller companies, many of which still rely on manual processes or limited banking tools. By embedding payroll into its existing platform, TBC Uzbekistan aims to make day-to-day financial administration part of the same digital service used for payments and other banking activities.

Employees paid through the feature can also apply online for a TBC Salom card and access other services within the group's ecosystem. These include cashback on purchases, interest on balances, commission-free transfers in the TBC UZ app, and cash rebates on deposits and withdrawals.

"At TBC Uzbekistan, our overarching mission is to take the hassle out of financial services and make people's lives easier. We have applied this vision to growing our market-leading consumer offering and are now focused on scaling our business offering in the same manner. This new payroll feature helps automate routine financial processes for SMEs at no additional cost, freeing up time for entrepreneurs to focus on scaling their businesses, while ensuring employees benefit from a seamless digital experience when receiving their salaries," said Nika Kurdiani, Chief Executive Officer of TBC Uzbekistan.

The business banking operation forms part of TBC Uzbekistan's broader effort to connect merchants and consumers across its digital network. It serves nearly 6 million monthly active users through its consumer brands, giving it a large base from which to attract both employers and employees to additional financial products.

That model has become increasingly important as financial groups in Central Asia look beyond simple payments and current accounts to capture more of the everyday activity of households and businesses. In Uzbekistan, where the population is young and digital adoption has risen quickly, competition has focused on offering services through mobile-first platforms rather than branch-led networks.

TBC Uzbekistan is part of the TBC Bank Group, which is listed in London and also operates a financial services business in Georgia. Its Uzbekistan arm says it reached profitability two years after launch and has continued to expand through a mix of in-house product development and acquisitions.

The purchase of BILLZ added retail management software to the group's business portfolio, widening its reach beyond banking and payments into merchant operations. This has allowed TBC Business to position itself as a single platform that covers inventory management, payroll, payments, and banking for smaller firms.

For SMEs, the payroll tool is a practical addition to that strategy because salary payments are a recurring need and can help anchor a company's broader banking relationship. For TBC Uzbekistan, the product also provides an additional route for employee customers to enter its retail ecosystem through salary cards and app-based services.

More than 30,000 businesses are now registered on TBC Business, underscoring the demand the bank has seen for digital financial services aimed at smaller companies in Uzbekistan.
